Current River and Lake Levels

Listed below are river and lake levels at monitoring stations for the last 5 days. Stations update every 1-2 hours, while the page updates at 35 minutes past the hour. You may need to refresh/reload the page to see the latest available data. These data are provisional; please see disclaimer regarding use of the data. To locate a station, use our interactive map. The river levels are given in the survey datum NAVD88 (NAVD88), which can be visualized as feet above mean sea level. These values show the elevation of the water surface above sea level, and not how deep the water is relative to the bottom. Flood forecasts are issued by the National Weather Service for certain gages, and are posted when available.

Notices

The projection information for the Santa Fe River near High Springs at US441 was generated in coordination with the NWS/Southeast River Forecast Center. The site is not an official forecast site.

Important Change in River Level Measurements

Beginning on November 1, 2016, the District started using a new vertical datum, the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88). In the past, the District has used the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29). The new datum results in a downward shift of between 0.64 to 0.90 feet depending on location. There is no change in the actual river level, only the value used to represent the level is different.

More information about the vertical datum change may be found at http://www.mysuwanneeriver.com/VerticalDatum or by calling the District offices at 386-362-1001 and asking to speak with Tom Mirti, Director of Water Resources.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has activated no wake zones five, six, seven and eight on the Santa Fe river. Zone descriptions and maps can be found at http://www.srwmd.state.fl.us/index.aspx?NID=102.

The Santa Fe Lake gage was washed out due to winds from Hurricane Irma. Data for Santa Fe Lake is not available at this time. The last manual reading at Little Lake Santa Fe was 142.52 NAVD on 09/14/2017

Please note that all river levels and forecast stages currently provided on this page and related pages on mysuwanneeriver.org are all referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988
