Water Conservation
There are more than 300 documented springs within the Suwannee River Water Management District. Healthy spring flows are dependent upon sufficient water in the aquifer that supplies their flow. Spring discharge is a critical contribution to the flow of receiving streams and rivers. Thus groundwater levels are an important indicator of the health of not only springs, but also the District's rivers.
A vital component of long-term efforts to preserve and protect our springs is water conservation. Water conservation reduces water demand and saves money. Establishing a water conservation ethic is essential in helping to protect our springs. All of us must actively do our part to use water efficiently and conserve our water resources.
