Fanning Springs is a popular recreation area in northern Levy County. Its 72-degree, crystal-clear water contributes to the flow of the Suwannee River. Discharging less than 65 million gallons of water daily, Fanning Spring is now classified as second magnitude. Despite being relatively short in length, its spring-run stream provides an important refuge for manatees during the winter months.
